Albert Einstein reckoned if you can’t explain something simply, you don’t understand it well enough. We’ve built our brand on that idea.
This is our team pic no studio shots just us in a former meat works, raw, and real, we have been delivering naked marketing for a long time now - nothing to hide. Just straight-up advice, clear thinking and measurable results.
If you've ever nodded along in a meeting wondering what the hell a CTA, KPI or SEO strategy actually means — this one's for you, the no BS guide to marketing chat.
Brand
It’s not just your logo or colours. Your brand is what people think and feel when they hear your name. It’s your reputation.
All Blacks? Grit, pride, and legacy. Whittaker’s? Delicious and proudly local. Your brand is your vibe—and what people say when you’re not in the room.
Target Audience
Basically: “Who are we talking to?”
If you’re selling kids’ lunchboxes, don’t target tradies. Know who your ideal customer is and speak their language. It’s not rocket science.
Value Proposition
Why should anyone care?
what makes your thing special? Maybe it’s handmade, grown in here in Aotearoa, or comes with a secret sauce passed down from Nana. That’s your value prop—it’s what sets you apart.
Call to Action (CTA)
This is where you tell people what to do next:
• "Shop the range now"
• "Sign up for our newsletter"
• "Give us a bell"
If you don’t ask, they won’t act.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
Just a flash way of saying: “How do we get noticed on Google?”
SEO helps your website show up when people search. More visibility = more traffic = more sales. Simple.
Engagement
Are people liking, commenting, sharing, or just scrolling past?
If your content’s hitting the mark, people will react. Engagement means you’re connecting-not just yelling into the void.
ROI (Return on Investment)
Is your spend bringing in results?
If you chuck $500 at Facebook ads and make $5K in sales, that’s a sweet ROI. If you make nothing... time to rethink the plan.
Content Marketing
Instead of flogging stuff directly, you tell stories or share useful/fun content people actually want to see.
Think blog posts, cheeky reels, or how-to videos. That cake recipe that turns into a pitch for butter? Yeah, that’s content marketing
Funnel
This maps the customer journey:
• Top = “Who are you?”
• Middle = “Hmm, this looks good.”
• Bottom = “Take my money!”
Your job is to guide them gently without being a pest.
Influencer Marketing
Rather than tooting your own horn, you get someone else to do it.
celebs, Insta-mums, TikTok tradies- they’ve got pull. When they back your product, people listen. Even if it’s a #spon, it feels real.
PPC (Pay-Per-Click)
You only pay when someone clicks your ad.
It’s used in Google Ads, Facebook, and other places where eyeballs = dollars. If no one clicks, you don’t pay. But you also don’t get seen.
Organic vs Paid Traffic
• Organic = Free visitors (they find you via search or socials)
• Paid = You’ve boosted the post or run an ad.
Both have a place - but organic wins loyalty, paid gets instant eyes.
Landing Page
A web page with one job- like signing people up or making a sale.
It’s your digital salesperson. Clean, focused, and to the point.
Retargeting
Ever searched for something specific and then it follows you around the internet? That’s retargeting.
It’s a way to tap people on the shoulder and say, “Hey, remember this?”
Social Proof
People trust people.
Reviews, shout-outs, customer pics—this stuff builds trust fast. If others rate you, new customers will too.
CTR (Click-Through Rate)
How many people actually clicked on your ad or link?
If 100 people saw it and 5 clicked, that’s a 5% CTR. More clicks = better engagement
A/B Testing
Try two versions of something—like two headlines, colours, or email subject lines—and see what wins.
It’s like a good old Kiwi taste test. Only with data.
Lead Magnet
A wee freebie in exchange for someone’s email or contact info.
Could be a discount code, downloadable guide, or free trial. Get them in the door, then wow them.
KPI (Key Performance Indicator)
Fancy name for: “Is it working?”
Could be anything from sales to site traffic to how many people opened your email. You set the goal, then track it.
Viral Marketing
That campaign or meme that spreads like wildfire (cheers, Internet).
Think back in the day the Ice Bucket Challenge. You can’t always plan for it, but when it hits, it’s gold.
No fluff. No jargon. Just straight-up Naked marketing.
