The Government led Just Transition project was created to prepare Southland for a future less reliant on the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter and more diverse, resilient, and opportunity rich. It brought together multiple workstreams, each tasked with reimagining what our region could look like for generations to come.
The Just Transition initiative involved multiple workstreams, each with its own focus yet united by a shared vision for Southland’s future. Our task was to support the creation of a cohesive and inspiring narrative that resonated with diverse audiences while celebrating the region’s heritage and future potential.
In this showcase we highlight the Regional Skills Leadership Group and the Beyond 2025 strategy, the culmination of the Government led Just Transition initiative to prepare Southland for a future beyond reliance on the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter. This once in a generation programme brought together, 1000’s of people, multiple workstreams focused on building a stronger, more diverse, and future ready economy. It was about more than economic planning - it was about shaping a shared vision for Southland that respected our heritage, celebrated our communities, and set a confident course for decades to come. Beyond 2025 captured this vision, drawing on the insights, plans, and aspirations of communities, educators, iwi, schools, employers, work seekers, and ethnic communities into a single, future focused roadmap.
Naked Creative played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. We delivered end to end creative and strategic support including web development, communications planning, stakeholder engagement, brand creation, media strategy and management, and storytelling across multiple workstreams and community initiatives. We directed and wrote compelling video content, crafted bold visual identities, and orchestrated media outreach that connected local voices to national conversations, we supported and spoke at events.
By aligning narratives across diverse groups and creating standout moments that captured public attention, we helped transform complex ideas into an inspiring, united message. The result was a body of work that did more than inform - it inspired, mobilised, and positioned Southland as a region ready to lead with confidence, clarity, and ambition.
